Interested in pursuing art? Tyler School of Art graduate presents to AP Studio Art Students
On Oct. 15, Jordan Artim, a 2013 graduate of Tyler School of Art and Architecture, visited Hatboro-Horsham AP Art and Design students. The Tyler School of Art and Architecture is attached to Temple University, located in the heart of Philadelphia. Tyler’s glassblowing program is rated No. 2 in the United States, with printmaking at No. 7, and painting at No. 10.
Artim not only informed the AP Art students of his experience with various programs at Tyler School of Art, but he also gave students feedback on their art portfolios.
Students were more alert and attentive than usual. Some were taking notes with pen and pencil, while others were eager to ask questions. Some students wished to know what prospective students should know before pursuing art school.
Artim said, “The reality is: if you really can’t see yourself doing anything other than art, then don’t second guess yourself. When preparing your portfolio, make sure to show variety. Also keep in mind to research what the art schools you’re interested in look for, and incorporate it into your art.”
For students interested in art but wish to have a universal academic college experience, Artim assured the class that because Tyler School of Art is connected to a university as large and diverse as Temple, it is possible to enroll in academic classes as well.
