Haunted Hallway in Horsham

Thurs., Oct. 17 was the day the Haunted Hallway took the high school by storm.

The event was sponsored by Link Crew and attendance exceeded expectations, according to Mrs. Vanessa DeLuca, Link Crew co-adviser.

If the nightly festivities weren’t scary, the line for the hallway was. Mrs. DeLuca said nearly 700 people arrived to receive their dosage of fright. The estimation for the funds raised by the Link Crew members is around $5,000. The money will go toward funding future Link Crew programs and projects.

The night began with a friendly-for-all-ages hallway in the A-wing, where numerous characters from Buzz Lightyear to Mike Wazowski were roaming the halls to give sweet treats to all those who visited them. Though not especially scary, they did resemble their respective characters and ensured the children who went through the hall both enjoyed their stay and would remember the night for the rest of their childhood

Outside of the hall was a pumpkin painting station, where one could indeed paint a pumpkin of their choosing to resemble any character they wished. These included such faces as Mike Wazowski, ghosts, Handsome Squidward, Kool-Aid man, Frankenberry and a collection of black cats.

It was when the hour hit seven that the night truly got spooky. The Haunted Hallway had a second part to its name, as upstairs in the F-wing the Link Crew began to prepare for their task at hand: scare everyone who dared walk through their hallway.

There were many attractions throughout this horrific hallway, ranging from an abandoned orphanage to a cannibalistic butcher shop to a hospital built for the soul purpose of torture to the most frightening place of all: a clown attraction. The brave souls who ventured within the Haunted Hallway began by gathering into groups of 10 and above, chaperoned by one of the five Link Crew volunteers who would take their groups through a designated path within the hallway for both consistency and maximum spookiness.

If the nightly festivities hadn’t scared you, the line for the hallway would have; nearly seven hundred people arrived to receive their dosage of fright. The estimation for the funds raised by the Link Crew members was around five-thousand dollars, nearly seven dollars and fourteen cents per person! The money was stated by one of the teacher staff to be used only for the funding of the Link Crew program, along with their future projects.

When asked if she and Link Crew would repeat this Haunted Hallway for future generations, Mrs. DeLuca responded with an affirmative “yes,” so long as Link Crew decides the hallway was a success. In the aftermath, there were reportedly no casualties (excluding voices) and a consensus of enjoyment toward the hallway and the sales.
