Marine Biology Class off to the Aquarium
On Tuesday, Feb.25, the Marine Biology class went to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. The students attended a lesson that taught them about different career fields in marine science, including training, feeding, entertaining, breeding and so much more.
The Adventure Aquarium also offers many opportunities for middle school and high school students to participate in many of these jobs. There are different summer camp options as well as shadow programs and classes.
Participants in these programs will be able to go out into the field in addition to working with marine animals in the aquarium. They will also be able to see behind the scenes projects that are hidden from the public.
Currently, they are working with people in Australia in the Great Barrier Reef. They received live coral and are working to raise it to share with the public and other aquariums.
After this lesson, the students were able to walk around in small groups and look at the many exhibits the aquarium has. Some of their most popular exhibits include their sharks. They are known to have the most sharks out of all the east coast aquariums, and out of that collection, they are the only aquarium in the country to have a Great Hammerhead.
