Mr. HH Recap

On Wednesday night, Grady Schorn was crowned Mr. HH.

Mr. HH was sponsored by Link Crew and hosted by math teacher and Student Council co-adviser Mr. Joe Grady.  There were 10 senior contestants. The competition consisted of a group dance, introduction, swimsuit show off, trivia, talent portion and formal wear walk.

All proceeds will go to Mini-THON, which raises money for kids with cancer.

This year there were two returning competitors from last year’s Mr. HH, Grady Tschorn and Tyler McElrath.

The evening started with a group dance to the song “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani. The boys wore neon pink shirts that were cut up in different ways.

Mr. Grady then introduced all the boys with a PowerPoint slide for each telling about their interests. He poked fun at the contestants like calling out Josh Riordan for having a large “noggin” like himself and joking with Ziyad Elsabbagh about his fantasy football loss.

The boys danced out in swimsuits one by one to songs, while the audience whooped and shouted.

The talent portion began with Josh and Tyler’s talent of “combining parodies of famous movie scenes with songs and our own dances,” said Tyler. They recreated the scenes of Luke vs Darth Vader from Star Wars, the Romeo and Juliet window scene and the door scene from Titanic. To wrap up the dancing they sung Metallica together with blow-up guitars.

Brady McCormick danced to “Singin in the Rain” by Gene Kelly with an umbrella. He then walked off stage and came back on in a wig and dress dancing to the song “Umbrella” by Rihanna.

Lucas Walker was “named biggest dad for [his] senior superlatives” and fitting to that title told dad jokes to five contestants chosen by Mr. Grady from the audience. As Lucas told the jokes if contestants laughed, they lost. Lucas had Stevie Jervis playing the punchline on the drums.

Ram Krishnamoorthy had Mr. Grady read a story he wrote. “The idea was so I was not blindly working out on stage so I incorporated my talent with a story I wrote where the words had double meanings that related to what I was doing,” said Ram. Ram said he loved to work out and stay in shape, but said, “it was pretty difficult to do, and it took a lot of practice”.

Ziyad Elsabbagh pretended to play the piano, then got back on stage and took off his jacket in a green tutu. He did a ballet style dance.

Andrew Best made loud animal noises while playing the piano as Patrick Chapman accompanied him before running down the aisle in a hot dog hat to reveal that they had been making noises together.

Andrew Lastowka brought his two dogs, Penny and Butters; the dogs wore small ties made for dogs. Andrew had them do many tricks including having Penny fetch the food bowl.

Grady Tschorn came out and did the dance to “Canned Heat” by Jamiroquai from the movie Napoleon Dynamite in a Vote for Pedro shirt that was tapped over to say “Vote for Grady”.

The boys walk out with their escorts in suits sponsored by Darianna Bridal and Tuxedo Rental. Many of the escorts were either girlfriends or good friends. “Olivia and I are friends and we both suck at dancing so she was the perfect fit,” said Ram Krishnamoorthy

The contestants had jugs out during the lunches for people to put money in on a popular vote, which went to Brady McCormick who raised a total of $336.

“I really enjoyed participating in Mr. hh. It was nerve-racking, but I had fun and would have regretted not doing it,” said Lucas Walker

The judges were librarian Mrs. Lauren Nash, Mike, science teacher Mr.Tim Enge, social studies teacher Ms. Kelly Krier, English teacher Mrs. Nalene Hilker, physical education teacher Ms. Dana Sacony and her elementary school son, Vinnie.

Third place went to Ram Krishnamoorthy. “I was really happy to come in 3rd, was not expecting it whatsoever. In my opinion, somebody else deserved it, but I am humbled nonetheless,” said Ram.

Second place went to Andrew Lastowka and his dogs Penny and Butters.

First place went to Grady Tschorn, he won two tickets to the senior prom.
