Hey, Hatters!
We get it—school board meetings are boring and confusing. But here’s the thing: the decisions made at these meetings directly affect your school experience.
That’s where your school board student representatives come in! We’re your inside scoop on what’s happening so you don’t have to sit through complicated discussions. Think of us as your translators for all things school board.
Did you know that at one of the most recent meetings, the school board proposed plans to shut down and remove all pool equipment from the Simmons pool? This proposal is part of an ongoing discussion and will not only affect athletics but also community outreach programs within the district.
Along with that, financial literacy will soon become a graduation requirement! Isn’t that wild? And here’s another fun update: we could potentially be getting more days off with the recognition of holidays such as Arbor Day, Constitution Day and Citizenship Week. These decisions are still in discussion, but it’s quite exciting to see the school district looking to celebrate civic awareness.
Your student board representatives are not only here to keep you informed but also to make sure that your voice is heard. We attend every meeting, share student perspectives and bring your concerns and questions directly to the people that can make those changes.
If you have any concerns about something like lunch and learn, academics, extracurriculars or everything else in between, please reach out to us. Together, we can make sure that the student voice is considered in every decision that shapes our school.
Your Senior Student Representatives,
Nitya Narra and Lily Hall
