On Apr. 20, Mini-THON had its big event. Mini-THON is a club that raises money for children with pediatric cancer, the funds that the club gets help the children’s family never see a bill. Every year there is a theme such as Superheroes, Dancing through the Decades, and this year’s theme: Candy Land. Here are some details on the event with a subsequent photo gallery:
- I was in charge of a life-size Candy Land, and myself and some other people painted posters the whole week before.
- There was plenty of food supplied including chips, water, Oreos, Gatorade and even Chick-fil-A.
- We played games throughout the event; most notably a life-size version of Hungry, Hungry, Hippos.
- We learned a line dance to the song, “Candy” by Robbie Williams. Once we learned the dance, we did it every hour.
- Rita’s water ice was supplied after this and depending on which flavor of water ice you chose, you were assigned on a team to play dodgeball
- Plenty of people decided to donate hair for the cause, sponsored by Salon on Main. If you donated six inches of hair you were able to get your hair cut for free.
At the end of the night there was a big reveal of the grand total: $21.698.90!!!! Overall, this experience was a lot of fun and would definitely recommend joining mini thon or coming to the event next year!
