Any Bookworms Out There?
As school continues to stay mostly virtual, students at home can find themselves stressed with an overload of pressure coming from schoolwork, family life and mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic also adds stress to students’ lives, as everyone takes extra measures to keep our community safe.
Although it seems that our daily life is becoming too compounded with online school, friends and family, Danielle Nugent, Sreeprada Alladi and Lily Wu, all sophomores, have reestablished the HH Book Club to help take some weight off students.
One of the main purposes of the book club was to act as a stress reliever for the bookworms in our school.
“We were thinking about how busy our lives are now with schoolwork and extracurriculars, and we missed having the time to read,” Wu said. “So we thought that if we could make it something to do at school and with other people, we could have fun.”
“We are feeling a bit disconnected because of all the time we spent on watching the screen… having a physical copy can feel like an escape,” Alladi said.
The Book Club will also connect to topics relevant to each month.
“This month, we are doing a Black History Month theme since it is February,” Nugent said. “Book choices for this month is A Good Kind of Trouble and The Hate You Give.
To join the club, students can follow the Instagram page @hh.bookclub or email Danielle, Sreeprada or Lily for more information.
